Mobility Scooters
It is important to consider how and where a scooter will be used when selecting the scooter that is right for you or a loved one. There are many things to consider when you are purchasing a scooter.
Each category of scooter offers different features and benefits that match a certain lifestyle and type of use. Portable/Travel Scooters
This is a smaller sized scooter with a weight capacity ranging from 250 to 300 lbs. A travel/transport scooter is generally not used as a full-time method of transportation, but used for trips to the mall or, or on vacation.
- Easily disassembled to transport.
- Heaviest piece typically weighing less than 40 lbs.
- Better maneuverability in smaller indoor spaces.
- Not recommended for outdoor use, unless on a smooth, paved or concrete surface.

Mid-Size Mobility Scooter
- 3 or 4-wheeled scooters designed for use both indoors and outdoors
- Larger wheel size make them suitable for use outdoors, but their maneuverability also allows them to be used indoors in stores, malls, restaurants and coffee shops
- Wide range of prices and options, including full suspension, headlights, turn signals and power seats
- More difficult to transport as they generally do not come apart
- Can be carried in a van or truck – usually with the assistance of a scooter lift

Outdoor Mobility Scooters
- Suitable for use even over rough terrain
- Feature 4 wheels for maximum stability, but 3-wheel versions are also available
- Large batteries offer high speeds and longer travel range
- Available with suspensions, light packages and seating options
- Requires a large vehicle equipped with a lift to transport
- Limited maneuverability indoors

Touring Mobility Scooters
- Powerful Motor
- Canopy or Enclosure
- Large batteries offer high speeds and longer travel range
- Available with suspensions, light packages and seating options.
- True alternative transportation.

Heavy Duty Mobility Scooters
- Heavy duty scooters are designed for the bariatric patient with weight capacities up to 500 lbs.
- Because these are much larger scooters for a larger patient, they have an even bigger seat and need more room to maneuver indoors.
- These scooters, because of the larger wheels and frame to accommodate the higher weight capacity, are the better scooters to use outdoors in most terrain.
